Lust For Youth is a Danish-Swedish electronic duo formed by Hannes Norrvide and later joined by Malthe Fischer, based in Copenhagen. Initially a solo project by Norrvide in the early 2010s, Lust For Youth began with raw, lo-fi production, which Pitchfork described as “scrappy cold wave production that is both intelligent and infectious.” Early releases like Solar Flare, Growing Seeds, and the 2013 single Chasing The Light showcased this cold, minimalist aesthetic, where melodic elements emerged amidst layers of tape hiss and noise.
In the early fall of 2013, the project expanded as Fischer joined, steering Lust For Youth towards a more melodic, synth-driven sound. This shift defined their 2014 album, International, along with tracks like ”Armida”, ”Sister (Club Mix)”, “Running,” and “New Boys”, which introduced a brighter, more polished soundscape. That same year, Loke Rahbek briefly joined, creating a trio that produced International (2014) and Compassion (2016).
Praised for its stadium-sized, emotionally charged melodies, Compassion marked a new level of sonic sophistication for the group. After Rahbek’s departure, Norrvide and Fischer continued as a duo, infusing their music with influences ranging from shoegaze to , crafting an immersive and nostalgic experience. Their self-titled album, Lust For Youth (2019), was celebrated as “bold and bright,” solidifying their place in modern synth-pop, though recent releases indicate a move beyond that label. In 2022 and 2023, the duo released the singles Accidental Win and Giorgia, continuing their moody, atmospheric approach.
Same year, Lust For Youth’s took the tage at the Sydney Opera House, and in the fall, they were invited by the Swedish embassy to perform in Mexico City as part of the Sounds of Sweden exhibition, which also included a special concert. Blue Suzuki (2023), a 6-minute ambient track released under the Posh Isolation label, took their sound in an unexpected direction, leaning into atmospheric, slower-paced textures that reflect an evolving creative direction.
Lust For Youth’s upcoming collaborative album with Croatian Amor, All Worlds, set for release on Sacred Bones Records on March 7, 2025, explores themes of belonging and connection. Drawing inspiration from the Golden Record sent into space, All Worlds brings together diverse influences, symbolizing a convergence of genres and cultures, reflecting the band’s journey and evolution.

Formed in 2021, Brooklyn based Lathe of Heaven delivers a powerful take on post-punk and new-wave, pushing the boundaries of both genres into an untouched realm of sonic abstraction. With melodic riffs, urgent rhythms and science-fiction themed lyrics, LoH carefully position themselves in the no-mans-land that exists between beauty and dissonance, offering a unique sound as reminiscent of Finnish post-punkers Musta Paraati as they are to pop-pioneers A Flock of Seagulls. Though Lathe of Heaven features members of many noteworthy Brooklyn based projects including People’s Temple, Porvenir Oscuro, Pawns, Android, Hustler, and more, this roster of past and alternate musical endeavors exposes a diverse range of genre and skill sets which can only be understood as a departure from such influences, exploring a sound entirely of its own. Lathe of Heaven released their debut full-length album Bound By Naked Skies in 2023. With careful consideration, this eleven track blends elements of British new-wave and Finnish post-punk into a nuanced juxtaposition of 80s sonic mania. This record pays powerful homage to the uncanny worlds of authors Arthur C. Clarke, Octavia Butler, Ken Liu, and of course Ursula K. Le Guin (whose novel the band is named after). They return with their second full-length album Aurora, a bold expansion of their sonic and thematic palette that unfolds like a series of vivid, emotional vignettes. Rather than following a singular tone or mood, Aurora unfolds like a collection of short stories, each track offering a different lens into the band’s evolving sound and deeply reflective lyricism.
Aurora is an iteration of Lathe of Heaven’s sound previously unexplored, one that offers a delicate balance of their punk roots with captivating new-wave and 80s post-punk aesthetics. Lyrically, Aurora doesn’t shy away from heavy themes. Envisioned as a collection of sci-fi short stories, it is deeply influenced and lyrically driven by themes of anti-colonialism, diversity, and equality. Set to be re-leased August 29th, 2025, Aurora stakes its claim; “tremble without fear into dreamless oblivion.” You are invited.
